Airless Spray Equipment

Spray equipment has become a popular mode of painting and this has evolved into several types. One of these types is the airless spray which is basically the use of a high pressure pump that brings the paint to the spray gun.

An airless spray gun also uses pressure to force out the paint through its opening or spray tip. The tip controls distribution of the paint to the surface area that is being painted, so there are many types of tips available depending upon what results are needed.

Basically airless sprays can be powered by electric, compressed air, or hydraulic motors. These pumps have a paint pump that acts as a piston which pumps the paint through the hose. Airless pumps are more efficient for large paint jobs because they have high pressure and can basically get the job done in less time.

The advantages of airless spray equipment are speed, control, thicker coat application, and are more versatile in the types of paints being used. Regular compressed air guns require thinner density materials, and these are not practical for use on heavy-duty coatings for industrial or construction items.

The electric powered pumps are connected to the electric motor by a gear train. The stop and start of the motor with the use of a pressure sensor creates the pressure needed for distributing the paint. This pressure sensor is also known as a transducer. There are units of electric motor airless pumps that use digital technology in their controls and these can be very useful in terms of setting pressure levels and achieving the right amount of control.

Hydraulic power and compressed air type of airless pumps still require air compressors and these are electric or gasoline powered as well. The diesel powered ones are practical for more portable use whereas the electrical powered ones are used for painting in industrial factory settings where the areas being painted are rotated on rollers or belts.

The hydraulic or air powered pumps provide even and steady pressure control because the pistons move in one constant speed. Changing piston speeds only happen when the piston itself is set to change direction. Piston speeds and direction can be changed using crankshaft method or linear motor method. The linear motor method is more acceptable in use due to its efficiency in maintaining consistency of speed.

Aside from industrial type airless sprayers, the airless spray equipment is also available for home use. They are sold on the market in packages that contain written instructions on how to use them. They also come equipped with filters to keep foreign particles and paint from clogging up the spray tip. It is recommended that one prepares the paint by filtering manually before actually coursing this through the airless sprayer.Airless Spray Equipment Airless Spray Equipment
